Young Enterprise Finals
The King Alfred School Sixth Form enjoyed great success in the Somerset County Finals of the Young Enterprise Company Programme this weekend. Held at the food festival at Taunton on Saturday 12 May, Calore (consisting of Sasha Moores: Managing Director, Tom Sala-Rich: Sales Manager , Alex Vowles: Marketing Director, Finley McDiarmid, Hannah Puddy and Michael Hainsby: Finance Directors, Harvey Chandler: Human Resources Manager, Adam Parsons: Human Resources Assistant, Ewan Murdoch: Operations Director, Thomas Nullmeyers: IT Manager, Leanne Thomas: Administration Manager, and Cain Smith: Sales Assistant) won the top prize for Best Product. Setting up their business back in September 2017, Calore produced eco-friendly scented candles made from vegan products and recycled jam jars: by Saturday lunchtime they had sold out their stock! Members of the public were particularly taken by the fact that the students had made the candles in the science labs in school.
Well done to Mr King who has coordinated the programme and supported the students during the development of their business.
