The world of Fashion is exciting and dynamic, with a wide range of career opportunities to choose from. The course provides a strong emphasis on Fashion Design and Garment Manufacture. The course encourages students to develop individually and gain expertise, thus enabling you to turn your inspirations into a viable catwalk collection and work towards developing an avant-garde Fashion portfolio.
Learning is mainly through practical demonstrations, group work, lectures, individual projects and presentations and you will be expected to work independently and within realistic time deadlines, in order to develop your skills fully.
The sort of areas we will be covering will be, learning how to make patterns from scratch, grading patterns to get different sizes and industrial production techniques. We will look at fashion marketing, promotion and presentation techniques. There should be opportunities for visits to industry and possibly the clothes show.
The BTEC Level 3 diploma is a 60 credit and 360 guided learning hours (GLH) qualification. It will be made up of 6 units of 10 credits each.
